As residents' requirements for community safety and quality of life increase, it is essential to build an efficient and stable monitoring system. This solution adopts a star-shaped hierarchical networking method, using PoE switches as the network transmission core to build a community monitoring network, providing comprehensive and reliable monitoring services for the community, ensuring the personal and property safety of residents, and improving property management efficiency.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
1.Front-end acquisition layer
Cameras are installed in the public areas of each floor of each unit building to collect video data. The front-end uses cameras that support PoE power supply, which are connected to the front-end PoE switch through a network cable to centrally collect data from the cameras on this floor and provide power support for the cameras.
2.Network aggregation layer
The building aggregation switch is connected to the front-end PoE switch on each floor, responsible for data aggregation on each floor of the building, and transmits data to the core switch of the monitoring center through the optical fiber uplink port for processing. The monitoring center can place multiple core switches according to the actual number of cameras, responsible for processing data from cameras on all floors of the entire community, and realizing centralized management and distribution of data. The switches are connected by optical fiber or Category 6 network cables to ensure high-speed and stable data transmission.
3.Monitoring center layer
The monitoring center is equipped with professional monitoring management servers, storage devices and display devices.

Simplify wiring and reduce costs
Traditional monitoring systems require laying power cables and network cables for each camera separately, which is complex and costly. After using a POE switch, only one network cable is needed to transmit data and power to the camera at the same time, reducing the amount of cables used and the workload of wiring, and reducing the cost of integrated wiring. At the same time, reducing cables also reduces the difficulty of later maintenance and the probability of failure.

Watchdog function
The front-end POE switch used in this solution has a watchdog function. This function is like a loyal "system guardian" that monitors the operating status of the switch in real time. When the switch crashes or does not respond due to software errors, network storms or other abnormal conditions, the watchdog function will detect the abnormality within a preset time and automatically restart the switch. This process does not require manual intervention, greatly shortens the system fault recovery time, ensures the continuous collection and transmission of monitoring data, reduces the monitoring blind spots caused by switch failures, ensures the high availability of the monitoring system, and escorts the safety of the community.

4KV lightning protection function
The community monitoring system usually has more outdoor equipment and is easily affected by lightning. The switch in this solution has a 4KV lightning protection function, which can effectively resist the damage of lightning to the equipment. In thunderstorm weather, when the instantaneous high-voltage current generated by induced lightning or direct lightning is transmitted to the switch through the network cable or power cable, the lightning protection circuit can quickly introduce the lightning current into the ground to prevent the internal circuit of the switch from being damaged by overvoltage. This not only extends the service life of the switch and reduces the cost of equipment replacement, but also ensures that the monitoring system can still operate stably under severe weather conditions, ensuring the continuity and reliability of monitoring.

Adequate power guarantee
The maximum power of the POE electrical port can reach 30W, which can fully meet the power requirements of cameras, gun cameras and ball cameras commonly used in community monitoring. Whether it is a camera that requires high-resolution imaging, or a ball camera with pan-tilt rotation and zoom functions that has a higher power demand, it can obtain a stable and sufficient power supply from the POE switch, ensuring that all types of monitoring equipment can operate normally in various scenarios, without worrying about the performance of the equipment being limited or unable to work due to insufficient power.

Plug-and-play
The front-end POE switch has the characteristics of plug-and-play and no-setting, which greatly simplifies the network deployment process. In the initial installation phase of the project, construction personnel only need to connect the POE-enabled camera to the corresponding port of the front-end switch to quickly complete the device access without complicated configuration operations, saving a lot of installation time and labor costs. When the community network is expanded in the later stage, there is no need to perform tedious settings on the newly connected front-end switch. Simply connect the device to easily integrate into the existing network, conveniently and quickly meet the needs of new monitoring points, making the expansion of the community monitoring network simple and easy, and fully adapting to the ever-changing monitoring needs of the community.
